Description

Stage and film actor, notably appearing in the films 'Chariots of Fire' and 'Ghandi'. Appeared in many stage plays, and gained a reputation for his acting in Shakespearean plays. In 1991 the annual Ian Charleson Awards were established in the theatre world to reward the best classical stage performances in Britain by actors aged under 30. Died of AIDS.
