Description

Hymn writer, often called the 'father of English hymns', who wrote over 750 religious hymns. Incorporated his unique style of poetry into his work and incorporated new renderings of traditional religious sayings. Works include 'Joy to the World' and 'O God Our Help in Ages Past'. Writer of numerous other books on logic and other subjects, including 'The Dacian Battle' which has a couple of dead gay princes in its storyline. Educator and writer of textbooks, notably 'The Art of Reading and Writing English' (1721), and a guide called 'Logic: or the Right Use of Reason' (1724).
