Description

Poet and composer of songs. Notable for his war poems from World War I, including his volume 'Severn and Somme' published in November 1917 and 'War Embers' published in 1919. Notable works of music include War Elegy (1920) and A Gloucestershire Rhapsody (1919–1921). Among 16 Great War Poets commemorated on a slate stone unveiled in Westminster Abbey's Poet's Corner. Experienced bouts of depression and insanity in his later years. Bisexual.
