Description
Television and film actor. Television shows include 'Empire'. Notable as a child actor in the films 'The Mighty Ducks' (1992) and 'The North' (1994). Singer, released his debut album 'The Poisoned Hearts Club' (2012).
Smollett suffered a life-threatening attack in January 2019. Two men approached him outside a Chicago bar, allegedly yelled homophobic and racist slurs at him, beat and punched him and threw a noose around his neck. The incident received the widespread media attention that for many addressed the realities of discrimination against LGBTQ and black citizens in the United States.
Smollett was later charged with lying to police and orchestrating the incident with friends.
