Description
Transgender novelist, short story writer, anthologist, director and screenwriter now known as Aren Tulchinsky. Collection of short stories includes In Her Nature (1996, awarded the 1996 VanCity Book Prize). Novels include 'Love Ruins Everything' (1998), 'Other Ruins and In Her Nature', and 'The Five Books of Moses Lapinsky' (2008, City of Toronto Book Award finalist and winner of the Vancouver Public Library's One Book One Vancouver Prize). Directorial debut was 'His Thing'. Writer for magazines and newspapers and has worked as story editor, writer and director on many television series. Teaches screen and television writing at UBC’s Writing Centre and is a graduate of the prestigious Canadian Film Centre, the National Screen Institute, Praxis Centre for Screenwriters and Women in the Director’s Chair at the Banff Centre.
