Description

One of the major French lesbian poets at the turn of the century, and noted for her bohemian lifestyle. Pseudonym of Pauline M. Tarn. Had a friendship with the American Natalie Clifford Barney. Committed suicide. Major works are 'Cendres et poussières' (1902; “Ashes and Dust”); 'Les Kitharèdes' (1904; “The Women of Kithara”); translations from Sappho; and 'Sillages' (1908; “Sea Wakes”). Author of the book 'A Crown of Violets' (translated 2017).
