Description
Abstract painter and pop artist and a member of the pop-art movement. Paintings often incorporate found objects and non-traditional materials. His works established the artist’s ongoing dialogue between mediums, between the handmade and the readymade, and between the gestural brushstroke and the mechanically reproduced image. A painter, photographer, printmaker, choreographer, onstage performer, set designer and, in later years, even a composer. Had a relationship with Jasper Johns, among others.
