Description
Puppeteer who performs using marionettes, creating Ronnie Burkett Theatre of Marionettes in 1986. Multiple award winner, including an Emmy Award in 1979 for his production 'Cinderrabbit' and two Dora Awards for 'Tinka's New Dress' (1994). Recipient of the Distinguished Artist Award from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards for his contributions to the arts in Alberta (2015). Received the Simonovitch Prize in Theatre for design (2009). Appointed a Member of the Order of Canada (2019). Partner of jazz singer John Alcorn.
