Description

The first Sultan of Egypt and Syria and founder of the Ayyubid Dynasty. Noted for uniting the Arab world against the Crusaders and the recapture of Jerusalem in 1187, marking a turning point for Muslim power in the Middle East. Considered the most famous Kurd in history. Popular today for his jihad, but also for his chivalry, honour, decency, and generosity. Subject of the book 'The Life and Legend of the Sultan Saladin' (2019). Also known as Saladin, and born Yusuf ibn Ayyub.
