Description
Mezo-soprano opera singer associated with the Metropolitan Opera Company in New York City. Artistic Director of the Graduate Vocal Arts Program at Bard College since 2019, as well as Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar since 2012. Named Musical America's Vocalist of the Year in 2009, received an Opera News Award in 2007 and won the Tucker Award in 1999. Has appeared in numerous classical opera productions throughout the world, and sings contemporary and classic American song. Made history in 2023 as the first woman in professional opera history to perform the baritone title role in the one-act comedy ‘Gianni Schicchi’.
