Liberal Party member of the British Columbia Legislature 1996-2005. Minister of State for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, 2001-2004. He married his partner in the first same-sex marriage of a Cabinet Minister in Canada in 2003. Formerly involved in local city politics as Mayor of Whistler, 1990 and 1993.
