Description

Prominent art dealer and collector in New York City. Known for her promotion of Abstract Expressionism and its artists. The Betty Parsons Gallery opened in 1946 at 15 East 57th Street in Manhattan. She represented artists such as Jackson Pollock, Ellsworth Kelly, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg, among many others. Her own art consisted primarily of watercolours, moving from landscapes in her early work to bold and large abstract paintings later in life.
