Author and artist. Co-author with his partner Gregory White Smith of the books 'Jackson Pollock: An American Saga' (1989, Pulitzer Prize 1991) and 'Van Gogh: The Life' (2011), and multiple self-help books. They also founded the legal publishing company Best Lawyers in 1981. Co-chairman of Juilliard in Aiken Festival, a performing arts festival.
